Privacy Policy for Archive Report

Archive Report is a browser extension that helps users track and summarize their AO3 reading activity. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension processes and how it is handled.

1. Information We Collect

Archive Report does not collect personal information such as name, email address, phone number, or account credentials.

The extension processes only reading-related data needed for its features, including:

• AO3 work/chapter identifiers and title
• Reading session metrics (e.g., active reading time and derived estimates)
• Tag metadata shown on AO3 pages (e.g., fandoms, characters, relationships, freeform tags, rating, warnings)
• User preferences (e.g., reading speed setting)
• Optional kudos tracking state

2. How Data Is Used

• Generate reading summaries and insights in the extension popup
• Preserve yearly reading history and archives
• Support export/import features requested by the user

3. Where Data Is Stored

All extension data is stored locally in the browser using extension storage. Data is not sent to a remote server by Archive Report.

4. Data Sharing

Archive Report does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.

5. Permissions Justification

• Storage: Saves reading records and settings locally so stats persist.
• Alarms: Schedules yearly archive/reset operations.
• Tabs: Opens user-initiated links (e.g., support page) in a new tab.
• Host permissions (archiveofourown.org): Limits page access to AO3 pages where tracking is needed.

6. Data Retention and Control

• Data remains stored locally until the user removes it
• Users can reset all data from extension settings
• Users can export data to CSV
• Users can import previously exported CSV data

7. Children’s Privacy

Archive Report is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Security

Because data is stored locally, protection depends on the user’s browser profile and device security settings. Users should keep their browser and operating system up to date.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The effective date will be updated when changes are made.
